1. Album Artwork:

Timothy C Holehouse - Earth crumbled into the ocean, as flames licked the sky, we hung our heads knowing that the end was nigh!

I’ve just completed this for a double gatefold vinyl release.  I initially started it a year ago, but Tim had some label issues, he recently asked me to resurrect it, only to find I kinda hated my original ideas.

This is comforting in a way, to know that my skills and though process are always improving & changing.  So here is the final piece.

The portrait was shot in the basement of my old house (maybe 2 years ago now) and the sleeve images were originally taken with the lomo 35mm supersampler.

The album consists of 4 epic instrumentals, one track for each side of the record, sweet.

  2. I’m heading to Germany for a week with my band shortly, so I thought it’d be rude not to put together a poster.I set myself a task of putting this together in my lunch break at work, sometimes immediacy creates the best results rather than pondering over shit.

  3. A few stills from my new video for Coliseum.

  4. Another release I was working on at the end of the year was this sleeve for the Blocko discography.  I was honoured to help out on this one…the three guys in that band helped shape who I am today through excessive drinking and mixtapes.  I owe them a lot.
This 2CD set is now out via Boss Tuneage and it turned out looking pretty sweet.

  5. Two weekends back i set out for the day to film for a new music video.

I was beyond stoked that one of my favourite bands Coliseum had asked me to produce a video for a song from their new album, the record is great and the band just get better with each release.

The video is finished and should be out next week, I’m not 100% sure if i’m happy with my part, but all in all the band reaction was more than positive.  I don’t know if it was the short amount of time I had to film and edit in or the fact I was marching to someone else’s drum… basically Ryan from the band had sent me lyrics and what he wanted the film to portray.

I suppose this is all part of my steep learning curve, working out what I’m happy doing and what my limitations are, but in hindsight the fact I’ve already had the honour to produce something for a band I love in such a short space of time… that’s pretty rad!

Here are a few shots I took during the day, the amazing Mr & Mrs Sexton who were my models, my awesome fiance who came out for the day to lend a helping hand, and the four of us taking in some sun during a brief break.

  6. You can watch a short video about the creative process behind the Great Cynics album cover above.

Never had a design on a mug!!!

  8. Steve Gullick - Punk As Fuck.

Two weeks ago I was lucky enough to go and spend a weekend with photographer Steve Gullick.  I came his work around 13 years ago when I was studying for my degree in Photography, but instantly recognised a large bulk of it from records, magazine features and books going back to my teenage years.  His work inspired me so getting to watch him work and  talk about his past experiences was nothing short of inspirational.

Steve had been preparing for a show titled ‘Punk As Fuck’ which showcases his earlier work from 1990-1993 taking in images of Nirvana, Fugazi, Pavement, The Melvins, Screaming Trees and much more.

I’ve put together a short film which should be online within the next week so keep em peeled.  In the meantime check out Steves work here and Punk As Fuck is still showing at INDO in London

  9. I’ve been meaning to put some kind of playlist together for a while to share. These are some of the tunes that have made the begining of the year bareable.

Hope there’s something here you can enjoy.

  11. On Saturday I set out to shoot a short film about my friends (El Morgan, Kelly Kemp, Giles Bidder, Roo Pescod & Sam Russo) who were about to set out on the ‘Survival Tour’ together the following day.  The great thing was, we could film in it my friends home studio, so he’d record the audio and hopefully we’ll end up with something that looks and sounds great.  I’ve come up against a few technical issues which were purely a result of me rushing/not paying attention, I guess it’s all part of the learning curve!?

Here are a few photos from the day, the film should hopefully be up some time next month…. right now though, I’m tearing my hair out sorting image flicker and corrupted files!!!  Gaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!

  12. photo vault #8 //ENVY//
Really been struggling with this image for a while and trying to get it in shape for my book I’m working on… but I just don’t think it’d cut it blown up.
I shot this at ATP back in 2009 and believe it or not, I never used to shoot in RAW, what was I thinking???  Anyway, I thought I’d get it on here and share it as it pretty much sums this band up for me.

  13. Been a while since I’ve put up any live shots.  These were taken back in September at Southsea Fest… they’re of my good buddies Bear Trade.

I was reminded to put them up as they have a new 7” coming out which you can pre order here via Everything Sucks Music.  Top chaps, go and invest.

  14. As well as band photography I do wedding and portrait work. I’ve just revamped my site if you fancy a look.
